About the Archive

An unofficial archive of results from the Flycasting World Championships.

Flycasting World is a non-profit initiative run by flycasting enthusiasts. Our goal is to preserve and make accessible the history of flycasting world championships. If you would like to support this work, donations of any size are very welcome — please get in touch with Bernt Johansson at berneboy.johansson@gmail.com.

What's included

This archive contains results from the casting events at the Flycasting World Championships, including the individual distance and accuracy disciplines as well as the combined classifications (Combo 1–4, Combo 5–6, and the all-around Combo 1–6). National and continental competitions are not currently included.

About the Unofficial Overall

Alongside the individual events and the official combo classifications, this archive also computes an Unofficial Overall champion for each World Championship. We include it because the official combo titles (1–4, 5–6 and 1–6) are typically decided from qualification-round performances rather than the final rankings — meaning an athlete can win every individual final and still not top the official aggregated classification. At the most recent World Championship, for example, Henry Mittel was the most successful male athlete across all finals, yet placed 4th in the official 1–6 overall and 2nd in the 1–4 overall. The Unofficial Overall is calculated from the deciding round of each individual event using the points system below; the combo events are not counted, to avoid double-weighting the same individual results.

Unofficial Overall champion per championship

For each World Championship and each category (Men, Women, Veteran), we compute an Unofficial Overall classification from the final position in each individual event. Combo events (1–4, 5–6, 1–6) are excluded from this calculation. Points are awarded to the top six finishers:

Rules

  • Points are awarded from the deciding round of each event (final > single round > qualification).
  • Ties are broken in this order: total points, then number of golds, then silvers, then bronzes. If two athletes are still equal, they share the position (shown as "Tied").
  • Each category (Men, Women, Veteran) is ranked separately.
