16'/18' Spey

Event 6 is the longest-rod Spey event. Men cast a rod up to 18 ft (550 cm); women cast a rod up to 16 ft (489 cm). As in the 15 ft 1 in event, the cast is water-anchored: the line stays on the surface, loads the long rod, and is rolled forward in one motion — no backcast room needed.

Unlike the 15 ft 1 in event, the caster stands on a platform above the water (max 50 cm high) rather than wading in it, and there is no required cast from each shoulder. The caster has 6 minutes (no warm-up) to put out the single longest valid cast they can, regardless of which side it comes from. The sector is a 30-degree V-shape at least 80 m long. Ties are broken by the second-longest cast, then the third.
