Laghetto di Vinadio

The championship is cast on a small Alpine lake at the foot of the 19th-century Forte Albertino, in the Valle Stura at roughly 900 m above sea level. The venue sits inside the town itself, within walking distance of most accommodation.

The Venue

Lake, fort and mountains

Vinadio is a fortified village in the Valle Stura di Demonte, southwest of Cuneo, on the road up to the Colle della Maddalena and the French border. The Forte Albertino — a vast star fort begun in 1834 under Carlo Alberto of Savoy — dominates the village, and the competition lake lies immediately below its walls. Distance and Spey lanes are laid out over the water with the fort and the surrounding peaks as a backdrop.
